When you need this service
- The Check Engine, ABS, airbag or another warning light is on.
- The engine runs rough, starts badly, loses power or does not hold its revs.
- Fuel consumption has gone up for no obvious reason.
- You are buying a used car and want to know its condition.
What the work includes
- Connecting the scanner and reading fault codes from the control units.
- Watching live sensor data with the engine running; the data available depends on the car.
- Checking the component the fault points to, to separate cause from effect.
- Explaining the results and agreeing the repair before any work starts.
Good to know
- Tell us the make, model and year, which light is on and since when.
- If the fault only appears sometimes, note the conditions: when cold, under load, after rain.
- Clearing a fault code without fixing the cause does not solve the problem; the light will come back.
What the cost depends on
The cost depends on the model, access to the part, the amount of work and the parts chosen. For an estimate, tell us the make, model, year and the job you need. The final scope of the repair is set after the inspection.
Frequently asked questions
Will diagnostics show the faulty part straight away?
Not always. A fault code narrows the search to a system or circuit, but the same code can have different causes. The exact cause is found by checking.
Can I just clear the fault?
You can, but if the problem remains the fault comes back. Sometimes this hides a defect that costs more later.
How long do diagnostics take?
Reading the faults takes little time. If a component needs checking, the time depends on the car and the fault and is agreed during the visit.
